Dry skin & tattoos...?

During dry weather %26amp; especially during the winter, my tattoos get 'tight' feeling %26amp; raise up a bit so that I can feel them. Normally, they're smooth %26amp; not "bumpy" to the touch. Is this just a dry skin issue, or something I should worry about?

Dry skin %26amp; tattoos...?
my blue ink on my arm band reacts like that sometimes. I think it's a combination of the lotion i'm using with the sun. It's like an allergic reaction. I use neosporin in dry weather with sunscreen. it seems to help. and no the tattoos aren't new it just works for me.
Reply:Well, remember that tattooed skin is actually scar tissue. So it's normal that they would feel more notiable when your skin is tight from dry weather. You can try putting some moisturizer on them if you want, but it's nothing to be worried about.
Reply:sounds like maybe a dry skin issue. try curel. it works wonders. i would still try to go to a dermatologyst though or maybe a tattoo place to get a second opinion. you can never be too careful with your skin. good luck! :o)
Reply:Its nothing to worry about. You just need to moisturize more often with a good body cream. Try Aveeno.
Reply:My tattoo on my lower back does that too and I have had it for about 6 years now. Even when the skin is not dry sometimes it will be raised where the ink is at. It usually only does it during cold weather for me as well, not much in the warm months. I would not worry about it, maybe put some lotion on it and see if it helps, it usually just goes away for me.
Reply:My skin, tattooed or otherwise, is like that when I'm in dry, cold weather. I'd lean towards a touch more moisturizer during such times assuming the skin feels dry.
Reply:I don't know about the tight feeling, but I have 3 tattoos and 2 of them have the raised up feeling to them. What I was told about that by the artist that did the one that isn't raised up is that the tattoos were done too deep and that's what caused it to be raised up like that. I guess she knew what she was talking about because the one she did isn't like that. I can't tell where it is unless I look and the others I just have to feel. I would use a good lotion on it every day, especially when you get out of the shower, but I don't think it's anything to worry about.
Reply:have you tryed to put lotion on them like a non scented lotion... this may help it sounds like your skin is dryed out and then tightens up .. mine did this once i put lotion on it and it was fine
