Emergency treatment/remedy for very dry, chapped skin please?

I used Panoxyl (benzoyl peroxide) 10% gel on my face to help clear up a few pimples I have on my chin and around my mouth area. (I would say it is minor acne) Oh Boy..... do I regret it! I used it for three days and I am not going to use it again. My skin feels soooo dry, chapped, tender, leathery and tight.... ouch! It's so flaky and terrible looking. There is no way it can be camoflauged. I am going out later and just want to get rid of all the dry flaky skin and get my skin back to good condition. I exfoliated my face gently last night and applied lots of vaseline but it didn't make much of an improvement. Please does anybody have any good, quick, guaranteed to work remedies or treatments to recommend to me. Please help! Ps. I do know about panoxyl and it's strength and side effects so no lectures please. Thank you in advance for your answer.

You may have added to the problem inadvertently. You said you put petroleum jelly on your face. I won't lecture you but I will ask you one question and let you come up with the answer. LOL What is petroleum jelly? Here's a hint. They make gasoline and motor oil out of petroleum!!! What does gasoline do if it get on your skin? It burns your skin. OK so I gave you the answer and ask more than one question. OOPS!

Also stay away from oils especially mineral oils. They to will burn your skin. I know you need a quick fix. Unfortunately there is none. I would recommend that you try something different next time. I would suggest that you try the Medicated Spot Treatment from Bee-Luscious Cosmetics (do a Yahoo search, it's cheaper to buy on-line directly from the company). You only put it directly on the acne. This should lesson the drying of your skin. Also get their Oil Free Night Treatment. It is a moisturizer specifically designed for acne prone skin and helps your body to normalize oil production.

But in the meantime you need an oil free moisturizer. Get something from the salon or order the Hydrating Creme Extreme from Bee-Luscious. Just make sure it is OIL FREE. Hope this helps. I am a skincare professional.
Reply:There is a type of Sarna lotion that is good for very dry chapped skin.
Reply:coconut oil

neem oil

grapeseed oil

Neem is prolly the fastest

Also Walgren's after sun lotion is the best ever.
Reply:I found an oil in a local health store that's very good for dry skin. I use it a lot, and I use it on my husband who has severe dry skin problems.
Reply:Use Aqueos Cream. You can use it instead of soap too. It doesn't lather but use it the same as you would use soap then rinse it off with warm water. You can bathe and shower with it and use it on your face. Pat yourself dry then rub some Aqueos Cream into the offending area . You can buy this cream at any Pharmacy. It isn't expensive either. Make sure you use the whole tub and see how marvellous it is.
Reply:Believe or not, olive oil is good.
Reply:Yeah that stuff really is strong, anyway try a little olive oil , gently massage into skin, mineral oil, vitamin E oil or cocoa butter. It will be a little greasy but your skin being so dry will soak it up. Do not use at same time. Will definitely clog pores.
Reply:i find e 45 cream best or nivea intensive care the 1 in the yellow tube goodluck :)
Reply:oilatum oil is great for revitalising skin i use it regulary as i have atopic eczema and suffer from extremely dry skin this was the best thing i found and you can buy it at your local pharmacy
Reply:It'll take a couple weeks for it to heal. Just drink lots of water, put on Oil of Olay, and go out at night! HA
Reply:Olive oil, coconut, almond are all good. Try adding lavendar oil at 1 drop per 10mls oil - will help reduce inflammation, renew production of healthyskin cells. Lavendar is also used in the treatment of acne and is antibacterial. No quick fix I am afraid.

Aloe vera is another good one - if you know someone with an aloe vera plant, applying the clear gel from a cut leaf is the best way.

As for the pimples - diet, exercise, natural depuratives like oatmeal masks on the face and steam baths are all safer.
