Dry, Flaky Skin on Face?

hi, my friend has really dry skin on her face and I wanna help her out. I doubt she has psor...(how do you spell it? lol), or eczema because it doesn't seem red, and she says it doesn't itch. It's just really tight, flaky, and dry. Anyone have any idea what it could be? And how she could treat it? I already told her she should go see a dermatologist, but she says they suck. lol. Her skin is affecting her social life too. Like,..she won't go ANYWHERE in public with me, and if I invite her to go swimming, she won't because water makes her skin worse. soooooooooooo yup. lol. ANY IDEA WHAT THE PROBLEM IS?

thank you for your time.

=D

she's 15!

Dry, Flaky Skin on Face?
15. I dunno, but at that age her hormones will be reeking havoc on her skin, the ammount of oil it produces, acidity there's an endless list. It could be the start of acne. Or maybe she's just been using a new soap and it's starting to take it's toll. You'll notice a lot of your friends have skin problems now. And it'll last for about another five or six years. Get her to go see a dermatologist. Not too expensive but sooooo worth it. Also moisturise.
Reply:Use a face pack of ripe bananas and honey. You can find more cheap, effective and natural home remedies for dry skin at http://www.wellnesstalk.org/dryskin.html
Reply:Dehydration can cause dry skin. See if she'll agree to drinking more water. Pool chlorine will also dry you out a lot, so don't pressure her too much about swimming. Also, its getting to be winter time so its often cold and windy, depending on where you live. Many women change their skin care regimen for winter. Tell her not to use a face wash that lathers a lot, they can be drying. I use this when my skin is dry and tight:

Also, any products from Eucerin will probably help.

Reply:I've had problems with patches of flaky skin on my face, and what seems to help me most is to take flax oil daily. You can buy it in capsule form in natural food stores.
Reply:if its just dry, try a moisturizer
Reply:that's horrible! it is psoriasis.if she suffer from psoriasis, you already know how unpleasant and painful the symptoms can be. if this are the common symptoms of this skin disorder, here's a list to study in case if this ever happens to her:

* painful itching

* heredity

* small areas of redness

* areas of scaling and rough texture

But it seems like she just had a minor skin problem and she just need a proper consultation from her dermatologist or perhaps use some skin care products that would suit her. she might have lack of oil or something...she must balance it.
