Does Proactiv work for people with dry skin?

I have acne. It's not horribly bad, but it's there, and I hate it. I was considering trying Proactiv, as I know people who say it works. But my skin always gets really dry when I use cleansers. I have, quite likely, tried almost all brands of face wash and acne cleaner stuff, and nothing works. It always leaves my skin feeling dry and tight. So I'm about ready to try anything, but I don't want to spend all this money on Proactiv, and then have it be a waste. Anybody know?

i have the same problem. I use Dove for sensitive skin soap. and as a moisturzer my girlfriend made me rice oil with aprocot oil. This makes my face soft and does not break me out. You can get these oils from a health food store.

Reply:Oh yeah!!! I live in ND so once winter hits I am really dry and thats when I use the proactiv once a day or it will dry your face out. What I do is use the scrub in the shower so you don't have to make such a mess at the sink..
Reply:Proactive works but I do NOT recommend it if you use it pretty much you acne will dissapear in about 2 weeks you will definately see results but it doesn't last that long, and if you don't use it for a day or two day you will suddeny break out it doesn't help you acne go away or heal it it just works while you use the product
Reply:I also recommend Proactiv. I love it. 10 mins after I use the repairing lotion, I apply Aveno face moisturizer. Gets rid of the dryness and tightness. The soy in Aveno is good for the skin.
Reply:I know it does work but not for people of tropical countries...... like from Caribbean islands... think it's because our temperature is way different to the states....

Reply:Proactiv works wonders, I recommend using it. I use it myself.
Reply:its going to take atleast a month of doing it twice a day everyday before your face really gets cleared up with that. And if you stop using it I heard your acne will come back twice as bad.
Reply:I use Proactive, and it's definitely worth it. It doesn't dry the skin out, except a little in the cold weather, but most acne facewashes will when the weather gets dry.
Reply:Yes it does work, but it is not good for the whole dry skin thing, you will have to use some face moisturizer or something else because Practiv dries out your skin even more!
