Anyone know of a good cleansing, toning and moisturizing system for oily skin?

I'm African American and I have oily skin but the cleanser that I just started using is drying out my skin but clearing my occasional acne. I can see try skin flakes on my forehead and around the crease of my nose. My sister uses Aveda on her oily skin too. Im looking for something from a department store, I've tried store brands and its the same thing, they dry out and make my skin feel too tight. What am I doing wrong?

Anyone know of a good cleansing, toning and moisturizing system for oily skin?
how many times do you wash your face in a day? you could be over washing or using something too strong to compensate for your oily skin.

i suggest that you use a mild cleanser. our face produces natural oils to protect our face from the harmful effects in the air like dust and dirt. a mild cleanser, will clean without overdoing it, as it is mild you can use it a few times each day without it drying your skin. remember to rinse off the cleanser properly with cool water. some ppl wipe off their cleanser without rinsing, not a good idea.

a toner should not contain alcohol as that would also dry out your skin. you can use the toner to clean your face of any dirt but do not use it to rub your face. a bad habit that some ppl have.

you should always moisturize your face. it is the most important step. as you have oily skin, use a lotion. it is lighter than a cream. you can apply it daily and it will not add to the oil. some ppl think that when you have oily skin you don't have to moisturize, they are wrong. a moisturizer can act as a protective layer from the environment as well as retain the moisture in your skin.

look out for water-based products, they are better. you can also invest in a good mask ( the wash off kind - the peel off ones can give you wrinkles) and use it once a week for deep cleansing, something with charcoal in it can help in removing toxins.

if you've seen one of those hydrating mask that you put on the face, use them once a week too or when you find that you need a boost of hydration.

a mild scrub, the grains should be very fine, this can help you to remove black heads and clear clogged pores without harming your skin. this you can use once a week too.

you can use aloe vera or tea tree oil on your spots as they have antiseptic qualities to help clear acne.

note: follow the instructions on the label, never leave mask on the face for too long or it will reverse the effects. principle of osmosis.

diff ppl have diff skin types even sisters so what works for her may not work for you. the flaking skin means that your skin is too dry, for immediate remedy i do this. use a cream, apply a generous layer on your face after cleansing and go to bed. your skin was be better the next day. works for me.

i hope that this helps. :O)
Reply:I Swear by C.O. Bigelow by Bath and Body Works, they have an oily- normal line that works really well for my skin. I used to have extremely oily skin and everything else I tried dried it out and made it even worse. C.O. Bigelow has the wash, toner, and moisturizer. Shop around, every face is different.

~ Good luck!
Reply:dermalogica special cleansing gel. i use that and its cleared up all my acne. wash you face morning and night with it instead of soap. you can also buy dermalogica toners and mostuirsers and that. you can buy dermalogica from ebay.co.uk as only a few shops sell it
Reply:I use to use aveda but I found a way better product!(hated aveda) i like the Intelligence line by Arbonne, it is also pure safe beneficial and botanically based! try finding it at www.antiagingskin.myarbonne.c
Reply:try reducing the application of the product
Reply:I had the same problem too. And this is what has helped.

1. Stop using All skincare products

2. Before I use regular tap water to wash my face with I use Evian ( it is that bottled spring water). I pour some on the palm of my hand and just sort of smear it all over my face. Or you could pour some on a cotton pad and gently ( without rubbing) smoothe it over your face to lift off some of the oil. I follow that by rinsing my face with regular tap water. Evian actually helps to cleanse the skin which I could never get by using tap water only.
