Is proactive supposed to make my skin itch and burn?
You should definitely use a good moisturizer with sunscreen when using these products. Benzoyl peroxide, the active ingredient, is notorious for causing itching and burning sensation especially when you're exposed to the sun.
Reply:proactive doesn't really work. few of my frndz and my brother used it, it does not work at all....
Reply:You must be allergic to something in it. I would go see a dermatologist right away. They will be able to prescribe something for your specific skin type.

** Next time, don't use a generic brand on your face, it's a very important part of the body.
Reply:go make an appointment with a dermatoligist right away, they'll be able to digagnose why your skin is dry and red better than any of us, and maybe they could give you an ointment or something to make it better
Reply:Well what you need to do is call your doctor and tell him to prescribe a different kind of medicine for your face maybe you face is to weak for your face and need something lighter, maybe you need medicated lotion to make your face feel smoothe.
Reply:No its not suppose to do that...I used it and it didnt do that..U should go to your dermentoligist and ask them what they reccomend for your face beause not everybody can use the same stuff.
Reply:i dont think they work because if they have pictures of people on the box and they have alot of red spots, they erase that on the computer because i have acne free but i dont have red spots and i used it and it made my skin all dried and gave me more pimples. because i thought acne free would make my pimples fo away. i got it from costco too! haha
Reply:If it's a knockoff of Pro-Active, it may use cheaper ingredients that tend to be irritants, especially if you have sensitive skin. I've used Pro-Active for a couple of years, and it's been working great. My best guess is that the product you used contained something that irritates your particular skin type.
Reply:Stop using the AcneFree. It's too harsh for your skin. Until your skin is back to normal, use only mild soap or soap-free cleanser on your face (no acne products), use a mild moisturizer and/or hydrocortisone (like Cortaid), and avoid sun exposure. You're just going to have to baby your skin for a little while.
Reply:Proactive nor any other acne medication out there is supposed to irritate your skin. If your check the label on most of the acne products they tell you to discontine use if it is irritating and/or drying out your skin. For the moment i would use a product that is geared towards sensitive skin. Finally, generic brands,no matter how much they "claim" to be as good as the original, are never as good as the original product. Sometime you just have to pay a little extra to get a quality product.
Reply:I would stop using this product. You probally had an allergic reaction. Until then I would continue using my normal face products and apply 100% aloe vera gel, good for skin irritations.

Clinique has a acne product line. Their products are Allergy tested and 100% fragrance free available at Dillards or Foleys department stores.
