Do I really need to use moisturiser, if I have acne, and my skin isn't that dry?

My doctor said I don't really need a moisturiser as they can usually make things worse when you have acne... my skin isn't extremely dry but sometimes it feels just a bit tight after I've washed my face. Is it best just to leave out the moisturiser?

well, i think u should use the special moisturiser, for oily skin. i read from the 'clinique' artical about oily skin, even if u are having that problem, u should put some moisturiser, especially with sunblock, or ur skin might worsen. try to find less-shiny effect moisturiser that suits ur skin. i got that problem too years ago, and i wasn't comfortable using moisturiser, but now i found one that suits me ; vaseline. yea, it wont leave shiny look. n my skin are much much better. thnk god.
Reply:Your doctor is right. Moisturizer would just add oil to what you already have. I had severely oily skin when growing up, and I used to carry around "blotting tissues". You can buy them online or at a drugstore/Wal-Mart. Or, you can be cheap, like me, and take a couple of those toilet seat protectors you find in bathrooms and cut them into smaller pieces. They are made of exactly the same material, and it will keep your skin "less oily" and less shiny throughout the day.
Reply:Yes moisturizers are so over used, even without acne. They are a temporary fix for people with wrinkles and people spend so much on them. Keep your face clean and with as little as possible on it.
Reply:You should always use moisturiser even if you have oily skin - this would help your skin look younger for longer. There are special moisturisers for oily skin - they are non-greasy ones (whih don't block pores - therefore don't make acne worse) and you can buy relatively cheap ones. It doesn't help to reduce acne though. What might help - is an established cleaning routine - wash your face, use tonic then apply light, non-greasy moisturiser with antibacterial qualities. Do this every day - the choice of products is yours.

There are different solutions on how to get rid of acne, and for different people different things help, so I wouldn't give you any recommendations - you just have to find yours.

But the moisturiser is not a solution, weather you use it or not.
