Emergency treatment/remedy for very dry, chapped skin please?

I used Panoxyl (benzoyl peroxide) 10% gel on my face to help clear up a few pimples I have on my chin and around my mouth area. (I would say it is minor acne) Oh Boy..... do I regret it! I used it for three days and I am not going to use it again. My skin feels soooo dry, chapped, tender, leathery and tight.... ouch! It's so flaky and terrible looking. There is no way it can be camoflauged. I am going out later and just want to get rid of all the dry flaky skin and get my skin back to good condition. I exfoliated my face gently last night and applied lots of vaseline but it didn't make much of an improvement. Please does anybody have any good, quick, guaranteed to work remedies or treatments to recommend to me. Please help! Ps. I do know about panoxyl and it's strength and side effects so no lectures please. Thank you in advance for your answer.

Emergency treatment/remedy for very dry, chapped skin please?
Mix vitamin E oil and sugar to make a gentle deep cleaning scrub. This should exfoliate the dry flakes without being harsh and still be gentle on the fresh skin.

I usually use about 1/4 cup of sugar to 1 ounce Vitamin E oil. I started using this as a hand scrub when I got extreme dry hands and deep cracks when even Nutrogena and other "sensitive" products hurt. I had frostbite and got an infection, so the skin on my hands can be extra sensitive.

DONT'T substitute salt for the sugar.

Good luck!
Reply:Try some vitamin E Oil - just apply it to the face - read the directions - vaseline helps too.
Reply:use a moisturizer during the day

and Triple Antibiotic Cream whenever you're willing for your face to look greasy-- at night, at home.....

You can find Triple Antibiotic Cream around the band-aid are in stores.
Reply:First sweetie no vaseline on your face....second go get some aveeno products..they work great for dry skin and also your never to young for Oil of Olay products.Hope this helps....good luck
Reply:I get very dry, chapped skin on my hands they also split open especially when the weather gets very cold so I use neutragena I find it works quickly. good luck
Reply:You need a really good moisturizer and you'll probably have to apply it hourly until you leave later on. Clinique makes a great moisturizer called Dramatically Different Moisturizing Lotion. Vaseline doesn't have moisturizing elements and vitamins that will encourage skin regeneration. Something with aloe vera in it is also good.

If you have nothing in the house you can use, try an olive oil mask. Just spread some olive oil on clean skin and give it 15 minutes. If you don't want it all over your face, just spread it on the dry patches. That usually works. THEN use a good moisturizer.

Another option is a milk and honey mask. Use about one tablespoon of honey to one tablespoon of milk and leave it on your face for 15 minutes. Skin is soft and healthy-looking.
Reply:Olive oil (massage oils) but be very gentle when applying, or just keep moisterising ur face and dont put too much chemical products on ur face, just let it heal itself.
Reply:Try Avon products, they have daily moisturing products that deeply moisture your skin without leaving it greasy or oily.

too much exfoliating could be causing your skin to lose it's natural oils and hence cause dryness.

I have a question about your break outs.........do you use a gel toothpaste that has color? or just a white toothpaste...

colored gel toothpaste is known to cause pimples around your chin and mouth, it's an allergic reaction, try using white toothpaste if you use colored gel kind...

hope this works and helps ya!
Reply:massage ur face tenderly with olive oil before going to bed
Reply:E 45 but keep using the vaseline overnight it really is one of the best for skin
Reply:you did the right thing gently exfoliating but vaseline is just a barrier cream it wont really help in your case, gently rub almond oil into your skin circular movements then a light moisturiser should do it. good luck

Peace
Reply:for the night use a soft facial brush to exfoliate whats on top and use a light moisturizer to help the rest. Unfortunately, this won't clear up the whole mess but it will look fine under strobe lights and your face won't feel as tight.
Reply:Try Oilatum cream - it is available at any chemist's and a small tube costs less than £4. It is usually used for eczema or extreme, dry skin conditions and is a brilliant, soothing moisturiser.

My GP prescribed it for an allergic reaction I had after using an eyecream, leaving the skin very red and flaky. The oilatum cleared it up within 48hours and I looked human again. The chemist said in his opinion, it is as good as any expensive moisturiser you can buy. It certainly won't do you any harm and could help a lot. Good luck.
