Why is it that some people lose 100lbs but their skin is tight and others will lose 30 and have flabby skin?

Details, please. Thanks!

Why is it that some people lose 100lbs but their skin is tight and others will lose 30 and have flabby skin?
it depends on where you lose the weight.

if they locally lose it all in their abdominal region then it is going to have alot of extra tissue that can not retract.
Reply:it depends on how you go about losing weight. most of the time, if you eat healthy and do all the correct excersises to strengthen muscles, then there wont be a problem with flabby skin. some surguries cause flab.
Reply:Exercise is a key part in having tight skin after weight loss. You also don't want to lose weight too quickly. That is why putting on muscle to lose weight is so popular and effective.
Reply:it depends on how old re u when u lose weight and whether u re exercising. if u re 50 year old not exercising even u lose 10 pounds u will be all flobby. but if u re 20 y.o and exercising intensly - skin goes back. maybe there will be some stretching marks
Reply:People who lose a lot of weight quickly, ie after weight loss surgery, tend to have flabby skin because they don't give it time to tighten and bounce back. Generally safe weight loss is 1-2 pounds per week, however many people after surgery or on extreme diets loose much faster. Excercise is key.
Reply:generaly if some one goes on a diet and dont do much actividy they can become flabby.if you take the same person and put them on the same diet and add an exercise routine like i hour 3 to 4 days a week.plus a little walking or tredmill 6 days a week.she would be firming up while loosing weight.
Reply:I think it has something to do with the amount of subcutaneous fat you have. Subcutaneous fat is the bulgy fat we see on overweight people. This build up of subcutaneous fat stretches skin out the larger you get. When people lose the weight the skin can shrink, but much like an overstretched sweater your skin can lose the elasticity it once had.

Age greatly affects the elasticity of the skin. As people get older their skin starts to droop a little, or wrinkle up. This is caused by your skin losing it's perky-ness. I'm not a doctor so I wouldn't know how to describe it. Bottom line is, the more fat you have making your body bulk out the more stretch your skin will have (hence stretch marks). Some people's skin is tight because they may have more anti-oxidents in their diet which helps with the elasticity some, but all in all no body is perfect after losing a gross amount of weight.

And, one last thing, some people have a lot of visceral fat, which is usually surrounding organs in your body which could cause significant weight gain. Some people carry a lot of that weight, rather than subcutaneously which doesn't cause their bodies to bulk out as much. When they lose this weight they may lose a lot of weight, but you could never tell because their bodies were never bursting at the seams so to speak.

I know this is lengthy, hope it helps.
