i am 5'4 and around 120 lbs and started doing squats and lunges, among other things about 2 months ago, now my jeans are getting skin tight, (I haven't started eating more),should i quit doing the squats and lunges? i want to be toned , not bulky!

You're building muscle underneath the fat that is under your skin. Unless you do some cardio, your muscles are going to get bigger, but you're not going to lose any of the fat under the skin. You cannot spot reduce any part of your body - to lose fat, you must do cardio using the whole body.

So if you quit doing the exercises, you will eventually lose muscle mass and your pants will probably fit again. But if you want to tone up AND wear a smaller pant, go for cardio as well :)
Reply:Your building muscle.
Reply:You are probably gaining muscle. You might want to try a personal trainer, they can help you target specific areas on your body.
Reply:You are probably starting to build muscle. This is good because muscle will help you burn calories more efficiently. How many times per week are you doing these exercises? 2 or 3 time per week with a rest day inbetween is enough. Try and include some cardio into your workout plan also.
Reply:It's muscle. And don't worry, there's a big difference in bulky and being muscular :)
Reply:your gainng muscle and muscle does weigh more than fat.

Good Job otherwise. keep it up you will look great in no time.
Reply:Instead Of Building Muscle Tone It Up Run And Stretch Alot
Reply:it really depends "where" your getting bigger.
Reply:I had the same problem not too long ago.

I was using weights to do my lunges and squats though.

So I stopped using weights to do the excercises, and

my thighs weren't as muscular anymore.

If your'e not using weights I would suggest just doing less reps.
Reply:Your building muscles, but the fat on top of your muscle isn't going anywhere. Your legs will get bigger before they get smaller because your building muscle which will help you get rid of excess body fat which, eventually, will shrink your legs and reveal all that georgous muscle underneath!
