I have a thick Stretch Armstrong fluid in my lower legs, I press my thumb against my skin, and the dent stays?

I work as a clerical in my office and I walk alot back and forth on the loading dock. I took my sox off and they left a circular mark around my leg. As if I was wearing a tight rubber band around my ankle. When I took off my sox and pressed my thumb against my leg on my shin bone the impression of my thumd stayed for about 3 minutes. Does anyone know what would cause this thick fluid to be under my skin?

Yes, this is called pitting edema. This can be caused by venous (vein) valve incompetence-so when you stand alot the fluid can't get carried back to the heart, poor protein intake, kidney problems and heart failure. For this reason, a MD must be consulted to rule out the bad things from simple fluid accumulation. For now, try %26amp; elevate your legs above your heart as much as possible, wiggle your toes %26amp; stretch while standing a lot, and wear support socks/stockings. Cut back on salt intake as well.
Reply:It called fluid retention, or edema. You should elevate your legs when you see this happening and keep them up until it subsides. See a doctor right away, edema can be a sign of a serious medical problem.
Reply:That could be a sign of something more serious- mostly fluid retention, but something that youir doctor should know about!
